Light needs surgery
14 March 2021We first spotted Light listed on trademe in Canterbury and could see that there was something wrong with his front leg. We approached the owner and they agreed to take him to the vet for a check and xrays, which we covered.
X-rays showed that Light has an old injury that requires Pancarpal Arthrodesis surgery, meaning his joint will need to be fused together.
Light came into our care (in Oamaru) 3 weeks ago, and his nature is delightful, he is a happy, friendly, social, playful and very clever dog. Thought to be about 3 years old, Collie mix with perhaps a splash of Pointer. Once recovered he will be looking for a super special home (will need to be cat free - too focused on them).
*** Fundraising for Light's Surgery *****
Estimated Cost for Surgery - $3,000
Light will have his surgery when an appointment becomes available in the next few weeks. We need to fundraise so he can have a pain free future. If you wish to contribute, our details can be found here: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/pound-paws-rescue
Any funds raised over the amount required will go towards vet bills for our other dogs that have had special vet treatment which we are paying off.
There is an excellent success rate for this type of surgery and it will enable Light to have the quality of life he deserves. Videos of Light and Mal playing:
