Precious Lily's Leukaemia Battle!

  • Thank you so much for your support

      17 September 2021

Thank you so much to everyone that so generously gave to Lily's givealittle. It was so truly appreciated and was has made an incredibly tough time a bit easier.

Lily is having some complications with her maintenance treatment. She is currently on limited chemo due to her body previously developing pancreatitis. Chemo is so hard on the body, especially for young children. At the moment for red blood cells and platelets are on the low side and recently she had to have a blood transfusion.

Lily has taken it all in her trademark stride, but of course there are days she just wants to be a "normal kid' and not have to deal with leukaemia anymore.

If you are a person of faith, please keep praying for Lily, that the limited chemotherapy that she is currently having will be sufficient to keep for well and the cancer away.

Please also pray for her bloods to stabilise and to remain at healthy levels.

Thank you once again for all your love and support.

    Much love Naomi x x

Lily has continued to amaze us with her bravery, resilience and the matter-of-fact way she has handled the past 12 months.

On Friday 5th March, it will be exactly a year since our precious Lily was diagnosed. She was so excited to start primary school, but unfortunately has had some setbacks recently with her platelet and blood levels dropped worryingly low.

Over the past few days, Lily has had to have three blood transfusions alongside a platelet transfusion as well. As you can imagine this has been very stressful and harrowing for Lily and her parents Anna and Greg. She will not be able to return to school for the foreseeable future as the risks of infection are too great. Lily is very sad and disappointed about this; she has so much taken from her this past year. As Anna or Greg have to be with her at all times while she is staying at hospital they are having to take time off work, which of course is affecting them financially.

Any donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your generosity and prayers. Please keep praying, prayer is powerful and we know our Heavenly Father hears all our prayers, and is moved by them.

I know it is an uncertain time for a lot of people at the moment, please know you are in my thoughts.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Isaiah 26 v 3

    Much love,

    Naomi x x

  • Lily the brave

      24 January 2021

Lily is currently in the maintenance stage of her treatment. Unfortunately she has had a setback, in the form of having reoccurring pancreatitis which has been a side effect of the chemotherapy. Pancreatitis is extremely painful for anyone let alone a young child. The medical team have decided to reduce the oral chemo to 25% and to use another drug called allopurinol, alongside it to improve the effectiveness of the chemo. This drug digests the chemo through the liver instead of the pancreas, so hopefully the pancreatitis won't reoccur. Lily's neutrophils are 3.5 at the moment , which is too high and they ideally need to be between 0.75-1.5. This is to ensure any remaining leukaemia cells are killed and decreases the chance of a relapse occurring. The high neutrophil count indicates that Lily is not getting getting enough chemo so the doctors have increased it to 50%.

On the 9th February, Lily is having an MR is rule out any other reasons why she has had the bouts of pancreatitis.

We would greatly appreciate continued prayer support, that the new combination of drugs be effective with minimal or little side effects.

I am so eternally grateful for the generosity of spirit people have shown, please know it is deeply appreciated.

    With much love

  • The bravest girl I know!

Lily has continue to amaze us with her positivity and wicked sense of sense of humour as she bravely navigates this harrowing journey.

Lily has earned 463 "beads of courage", each bead represents a medical procedure that she has had, as you can see the necklaces look pretty colourful and are a testament to her strength and courage.

She has now completed frontline chemotherapy for the intensification part of her treatment. Unfortunately she has developed a cold, which we are believing that she will recover quickly from so that she start the maintenance stage.

This stage will consist of 3 monthly IV chemo into her spinal cord, alongside daily chemo tablets. In conjunction with this chemo she will need steroids for 5 continuous days every 3 months. This part of the treatment is very hard as the side effects result in extreme mood swings and a huge increase in appetite.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers it truly means the world to Anna, Greg, Lily and Jacob not to mention our extended family.

For those of you of faith, please continue praying for Lily; that the side effects will be minimal and for chemotherapy to be effective.

With the deepest gratitude and love,

    Naomi x x x

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus-Phillipians 4:6-7

As usual, Lily has been amazing and bravely navigated the last few weeks of intensification chemo. Unfortunately she had another bout of pancreatitis which is a side effect of the chemo and was in a lot of pain, the poor wee poppet. This week and last she has been in hospital most days requiring some form of chemotherapy. I so admire her acceptance of it all. She is my hero! Lily is turning 5 tomorrow and will have to spend at least part of her birthday in hospital. We are looking forward to celebrating with her before Christmas. Please keep Lily in your prayers, that the chemotherapy will be effective and that her body will be able to handle it all without any major side effects. Thank you again for journeying with my family. It is so appreciated. Please feel free to share Lily's givealittle, any donation big or small is so appreciated.

Much love and God bless x x x

Lily has continued to show us what a brave, courageous, resilient and tenacious fighter she is. We are super proud of her. She has had to endure so many medical treatments and handled them with much more grace than I'm sure I could ever! For every medical procedure she receives 'a bead of courage" which she is making into some pretty funky jewellery! This week, Lily is embarking on a 8 week course of delayed intensification chemotherapy alongside steroids. This round of chemo is the toughest yet and can come with some complications. Steroids can cause a dramatic increase in appetite and mood swings. If you are a person of faith, please peace for Lily, Anna, Greg and Jacob. That the chemo would be effective and the side effects minimal. Thank you for walking this journey with us. At times it can be scary and dark, but we are standing firm and believing for complete healing. Thank you again for your generosity, we are eternally grateful. Sending much love to you all.

  • Hair be gone!

Lily has been on a bit of bumpy ride the last couple of months. Tests results show that she has gone into remission which we are all obviously super stoked about! Unfortunately she has had a few complications since then. Lily has had to be admitted to hospital a number of times due to high temperatures and has required a few blood transfusions when her platelet count dropped low. Lily has been losing her hair due to the chemo and yesterday she decided to take the brave step to shave the remaining hair off! Greg, Lily's Daddy was chief hairdresser and did the honours! In solidarity Greg shaved his hair off as well.

Thank you so much for your generosity, it truly has meant so very much. It is hard to put into words how much it means and how it has helped ease the load. We are also so appreciative of all the prayers, they have given comfort and peace.

Thank you so much for walking this journey with Lily, Anna, Greg and Jacob.

In these challenging times we know a lot of people are facing uncertain futures and are thoughts are with you.

Much love and God bless x x

  • Lily is a trooper!

Lily has been a trooper the past few weeks, we are super proud of her. Unfortunately she had a bad reaction to one of the chemo drugs which resulted in her contracting pancreatitis and in hospital for four nights, she was in a lot of pain and she needed morphine for relief. On the 6th April Lily will be having a bone marrow aspiration to test if the leukaemia has gone into remission. If you are a person of faith, please prayer for a positive outcome for this.

Thank you so much to everyone who has given financially and also to those people who have given meals, which have been such a blessing and toys to Lily. It is truly appreciated and made an extremely trying time more bearable. Much love from myself and my family. I hope you are all keeping safe in these uncertain times <3
