$990 of $5,000 goal
Given by 14 generous donors in 4 weeks

Raising funds for the construction of a Food Technology Room at Favona Primary as a part of Kristin School's 2015 Prefect Project.

Auckland

Every year the Kristin School Prefect Team embark on a large scale project that aims to address a need within our community - we fundraise, organise and carry it out ourselves.

This year we have chosen to focus on healthy, sustainable food in schools. Kristin will be partnering with Favona Primary School in Mangere to build and establish a sustainable, fully equipped Food Tech room, kitchen and garden facilities. Favona is a very deserving, low decile primary school in the Mangere area. Currently the school do the best they can to provide food literacy with some garden beds and cooking lessons using one stove in the school hall. However this project will allow Favona Staff to provide students better opportunities to develop important life skills, learning about healthy food from the garden to the table and to ensure they have a full stomach at school and beyond. In order to reduce the overall cost of the project and maximise the Kitchen space, we have decided to build the facility out of a converted shipping container.

The Aim:

Addressing Auckland’s hunger cycle through developing the resources needed to support children’s access to healthy, sustainable food in schools.

In March we held our ‘Food for Thought’ Quiz Night which raised valuable funds for the fit out, materials, appliances and building work and now we are reaching out to the wider community to assist in the purchase, transportation and early stage conversion of the key element of our Project - the container.

We wish to purchase a 20 foot shipping container prefab to be transported to Favona Primary where the Kristin Prefects and our building teams will begin the construction of this incredibly important facility during the July Holidays. In addition to the main facility we will be constructing a deck to increase the area that the students can use for preparation and learning as well as a range of new garden beds to engage the students in all aspects of healthy food.

Every single donation no matter how big or small will enhance the opportunities that this facility will provide; so on behalf of the Kristin Prefect Team and the Staff and students at Favona Primary - Thank You so much for your support!

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
