Our synagogue has always been more than just a building. It is where we gather in prayer, celebrate our joys, support one another in difficult moments, and pass our traditions to the next generation. It is our spiritual home.

Over the years, the building has served our community faithfully, but it is in urgent need of repainting. Repainting is not simply cosmetic — it protects the structure and preserves the place where our community comes together.

The cost of completing this work is significant, and it will be a struggle to meet it without help.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to ensure it can be properly repainted and protected for years to come. Any excess funds will go to interior maintenance (toilets and kitchen).

About us

Temple Sinai is one of the southernmost Progressive Jewish congregations. We hold regular services on Shabbat and Jewish holidays, host educational classes for children and adults, and engage in activities that serve the greater Wellington community.

Use of funds

All funds will go directly towards financing the exterior painting of the synagogue. Any excess funds will go to interior maintenance (toilets and kitchen).

On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
