Fundraise for Māngere Piriti Urupā to be able to build a fence to protect grave sites and to contribute towards ongoing maintenance costs.
Auckland
Māngere Piriti Urupā is a historic cemetery with more than 150 years of history. Sharing a site with St James Anglican Māngere Bridge, it is the final resting place for many tupuna from Tainui and other rohe. It has been lovingly cared for by whanau and the dedicated Urupā Komiti.
Over the last few years, the urupā has been the target of mindless vandalism. On Sunday the 13th of September 2020, it was again subject to desecration by unknown vandals. Many grave sites had smashed ornaments, broken crosses and upturned flowers and plants.

Many people have pitched in to help with the clean up, but we want to make sure this can be prevented from happening again.
Therefore working with the Urupā Komiti, we would like to fundraise to build a fence around the urupā to deter vandalism. Funds raised will also go towards building a fence and any surplus will go towards the general maintenance of the urupā - e.g. lawn mower upkeep.
