Regeneration: a new building for QE Health is coming in 2018. Help us achieve this - be part of the future.
Bay of Plenty
In 2018, QE Health will move into a new building and continue over 70 years of holistic healthcare - still all under one roof.
You can make a contribution to this project and be part of the future of a wellness centre that has helped thousands of New Zealanders and international visitors.
So many of us will develop osteoarthritis, pain and disability as we age (and we are an aging population) and will need QE's services in the future. And remember this is a not for profit organisation.
Originally, the Convalescent Hospital, that opened in 1942 for soldiers returning from WWII, then after the war as Queen Elizabeth Hospital, QE Health is a world leader in recovery and pain management, with 3 week residential programmes that change lives, run by a not-for-profit community trust.
Our building was designed to last 10-15 years. It has done extraordinary service over the last 7 decades, wears its battle scars with pride and is much loved by those who've benefited from our care.
It is time for a new beginning - "a five-star building for an existing five star service." Andrina Romano, QE Health CEO.
• Taking Rotorua to a whole new elite level in wellness and at the leading edge of the future growth of this sector (Rotorua 2030).
• Economic opportunities to expand into health tourism for private patients from New Zealand, French Polynesia, Australia and internationally.
• A new world-leading building for a world-leading holistic approach to healthcare and wellness.
• A healthy building - green, sustainable, economical, using wood, floating, iconic - luxurious and pragmatic.
• Harnessing and embracing primal energy and nature. Inspired by these forces and the whakapapa of our region.
• An oasis that is protective, embracing and nurturing.
• A building that is timeless…with a respectful bridge to a distinguished past.
QE Health - over 70 years of caring.
Established in 1942 as a Convalescent Hospital for soldier returning from WWII - a revolutionary approach to recovery and rehabilitation, holistic and including spa treatments Rotorua was (and is) famous for, world wide.
Post-war the work continued as Queen Elizabeth Hospital - specialising in musculo-skeletal illnesses.
Now QE Health, the approach is still holistic and multi-facetted - all under one roof.
The building has served its purpose well - now, it is time for a new beginning with a bespoke building in 2018.
