  • Fun at Adventure Forest

      26 January 2020

Yesterday Liam and I did the adventure forest in Glenbervie, as well as the swimming pools and glow in the dark mini golf. It was a fun filled day day, even if it was a bit scary at times(for Dad) up in the trees.

I am feeling so blessed, that not only is Liam well enough to do such things, but the amazing loving support from the givealittle community and other people that helps make even these little things possible.

    God Bless

We couldn't of asked for a better day for or island adventure. After boarding the ferryat 11:00 and heading out, the sea was so flat your could water ski behind it.

on the island we walked over the hill for our swim and then back to the café for lunch. Liam had a massive helping of pork ribs and ate them all.

we finished the day with a kayak before taking a later boat back to Pihia. We were blessed to have the girl friend and her mum share the day with us so it actually had a family feel too.

  • Mini golf with a difference

After Thursday's quiet walk around our local rock pools and a kauri walk, Friday was the exact opposite. We were gifted return flights to Auckland for the day by another bowel cancer patient from a support group.

After flying to Auckland, we made our way to Butterfly Creek for lunch then to Treasure Island Mini Golf. Amazing course, we played all 36 holes and then walked back to catch our flight home. This is definitely a once and a lifetime thing to do.

It is such a privilege to be able to share this with the givealittle community.

  • Having fun for a week.

Even though I did not have Liam for Christmas Day, it did not mean he was not there as we had a candle lit for him.

I have for the week of New Years and its been a fun time. We are not going crazy, but so far we have seen the latest Jumungi movie in which Liam could stop laughing(so nice to see) and Action World again with ribs for lunch. I got persuaded in going down the big slide using the "fast bag", which was twice the speed..YIKES. Liam showed me up on the "Leaps and Bounds" He was like a real Spiderman.

I had the honour of meeting someone who is following our journey on here. I would to thank this wonderful community in helping this happen and wish you all the very best for 2020.

    God Bless.

  • Not good news

      19 November 2019

Sadly Liam's chemo has been ineffective and the cancer lesions are just getting. they have stopped chemo as it now about giving him as much quality as we can.

He is an incredibly brave young man. If you can help in anyway to to help make what time he has memorable, I could not thank you enough.

Sometimes its not where you go that creates memories, it's who you meet. One of Liam's favourite places is The Parrot Place in Kerikeri.

He has made friends with a female Indian Ringneck called Lucky, who chirps when he strokes her back. Such a beautiful site.

  • Looking forward to weekend

      9 October 2019

I haven't seen Liam for about a month now as I too have been sick and didn't what my pneumonia passing on to him.

We are hoping to go and have a fun day in Kerikeri where we will go to his favorite place, The Parrot Place and play mini golf.

I have realized over the years that quality doesn't have to cost lots. Its what you do with the time that is important.

  • A heart wrenching visit

      11 September 2019

After our week away I visited Liam. It was a week after he had started his chemo.

One of the hardest thing I heard was when Liam told me "It sucks I have to take this chemo to stay alive". Its like he is saying Dad, I'm dying, there is nothing they can do.

All we can do is pray and give him as much love as we can hope the medication prolongs his life so he can have some more quality of life with whatever time he has left.

  • Memories before chemo

      11 September 2019

I apologize for the delay in this update. I have been struggling with my sons cancer progression and that he is now palliative.

I am so grateful that I was able to do some amazing memories the week before the chemo started. Though I knew the cancer had progressed to his lungs, I wasn't going to stop us having fun.

With the help of Lions Opononi and Salt Air in Paihia, we started our week of adventure with a helicopter ride to the land on the hole in the rock.

Once in Auckland, We did behind the scenes at the zoo, whale and dolphin watching, Holey Moley mini golf, and the cat café for a movie night.

Thank you so much everyone for helping to make this happen. I pray I can get more memories with Liam while I still have him.

I can not put into words how grateful I am, except that I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Everything will go a long way in creating the memories he deserves.
