Rachel has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Funds raised will allow her to focus 100% on beating this.
Wellington
Five weeks ago, to our absolute horror, after many scans and tests Rachel was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
She has started chemotherapy and is expected to have 6 months of treatment, followed by radiation treatment and surgery. At this stage we do not know what the surgery may involve (breast removal or lump removal).
The type of cancer she has is called Triple Negative which means it is harder to treat, and hormones therapy does not work. This type of cancer makes up 10 - 15% of breast cancers.
Currently Rachel is not working as she needs to attend many appointments, has the aftermath effects of chemotherapy to deal with, along with unplanned hospital admissions when she is not feeling great (currently admitted to Wellington hospital while I write this).
Rach, a single mother to nearly 5 year old Georgia is trying very hard to keep life as normal as possible for her.
The funds raised for Rachel will allow her to continue to take time away from work to focus 100% on beating this, for travel expenses in and out of Wellington for treatment (chemotherapy & cold-capping to save her hair) and hospital admissions, along with family to travel to be there to support her.
Rachel is my sister and absolute best friend and I want to do anything I can to make sure we still have her with us in years to come.
Living expenses while she can't work, cold-capping treatment, travel & family support travel.
