Help a young kiwi aspiring actress perform on Shakespeare's Globe in London this year.
Manawatu / Whanganui
My name is Rachel McLean, and I am a sixteen year old, year twelve student at Feilding High School.
After being selected as a Direct Entry Student to the National Shakespeare Schools Production week from my region's University of Otago Shielah Winn Shakespeare Festival, I was subsequently chosen to be one of twenty-four students nationwide in the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company 2015. The company will be travelling to London on the 3rd of July, to participate in workshops and perform on the Globe stage.
As an aspiring actress, this opportunity is incredibly exciting. It will take me leaps and bounds closer to achieving my dreams, and allow me to share what I learn with others back home.
The trip will include workshops with Globe directors, Q&A sessions about Shakespeare's plays with actors and directors, 'behind the scenes' tours of the Globe, Rose, and National theaters, plus many more valuable opportunities.
The money raised here will go towards the various expenses involved to be apart of the company's twenty day trip to the UK, which includes such things as airfares, course fees, accommodation, and insurance.
Being a part of SGCNZ's Young Shakespeare Company is a life changing experience for personal and career development.
My family would love for me to have this opportunity, so I am doing everything I can to assist financially.
