First, some encouraging news. A week ago, Dan was transferred from the hospital to a local rehab center to continue his recovery. He’s now able to walk about 100 meters a few times a day with assistance. While he still can’t get out of bed on his own or put on the braces he needs for walking, the physio team is working closely with him to build the strength required to reach that next milestone. His concussion related headaches are ongoing, but thankfully the vomiting has stopped.

Dan has been in hospital care since February 28th, and although he’s making steady progress, his doctors don’t expect he’ll be well enough to fly home for another few months. His projected discharge date from the rehab center is July 28th.

The bills for the helicopter evacuation, ambulance transport, and his dad’s accommodation to date have come in, fully exhausting the funds raised so far, with additional expenses still expected. This community has already shown incredible generosity, and we’re deeply thankful. We’re asking once more for your help in sharing Dan’s story to reach new supporters and keep his recovery on track.

After three long weeks, three surgeries, and the discovery of several additional injuries, Dan is finally beginning to make meaningful progress in his recovery. It has been a slow and challenging road, but the past few days have brought some much needed hope.

Just three days ago, Dan was able to stand for 30 seconds. The following day, he managed five minutes. Today, he took his first steps—walking for 30 seconds. These may seem like small moments, but for Dan, his family and everyone supporting him, they are huge milestones.

His right shoulder and left arm surgeries, along with multiple broken ribs, have been extremely painful and have prevented these accomplishments until now, but with determination, and with the steady support of his parents, the nurses and physiotherapists, Dan is finally beginning to regain some mobility.

During follow up tests and scans, doctors also identified a small brain bleed, which has been causing severe headaches and frequent vomiting. In addition, he has a torn meniscus in his knee, adding another layer of complexity to his recovery.

While we’re incredibly grateful for the progress he’s making, Dan still has a long journey ahead before he can return home. Thanks to everyone that has donated or shared this page so far, your support continues to make a real difference for him and his family as they navigate this difficult time.

    Lets keep the momentum going.
