Just a quick update on my health at present. I am fully up and about now and my ribs are mending remarkably well. Although whether or not I will be back with the horses is yet to be decided in discussion with Rosie.

I am keeping busy with appointments, have some pretty cool medical professionals helping me. I’ve been enjoying all of the phone calls and visits, thank you all.

Thanks again everyone for your kindness and generosity, I assure you it’s made a hell of a difference for both of us.

I would like to thank everyone who donated to the Give a Little fund. It was emotional and humbling to say the least. I am recovering faster than anyone may have thought, and have been home since Friday. Although my movement is limited, I am sleeping well in my own bed which points to a good recovery.

I hope to personally thank you all in the very near future, but in the mean time, Rosie and I want to sincerely thank you all over and over again for your generosity and well wishes.

    Hi all, Angus update.

As of last Tuesday it was decided that Dunedin hospital had done all they could do for Angus as he was surpassing all they thought he could do. Wednesday he was transferred back to Southland hospital (Kew) to be closer to home and recover a little before going to rehab. He put up with the ward for 4 days before going to rehab yesterday. He never ceases to amaze us.

It hasn't all been smooth sailing, with some ongoing issues with his trache wound, shoulder pain and some other question marks. However he is up doing things for himself, just needs to take it easy.

We all appreciate you checking in, visiting and all the other types of help and support we have received - it means the world to us.

  • Seriously stubborn

Angus has surpassed all expectations and is working hard to get back home.

He no longer has the trache, still has his feeding tube, but has had the drain in his lung removed which has made him much more comfortable.

He went for a walk with a zimmerframe yesterday, with 4-5 staff following to hold all of his medical equipment. He enjoyed going outside earlier today in his throne and has started saying goodbye to some of his favourite nurses before his move to the ward this weekend, which is much earlier than anyone expected.

He is still in a lot of pain as there is nothing they can do at this stage for his shattered ribs, meaning there is nothing holding up the left side of his body. This seems to have led to some significant shooting pains in his shoulder, but the lovely nurses are keeping him well topped up on morphine. He is also still on oxygen due to his punctured lung.

He had some interesting comments earlier in the week which left us concerned but secretly having a giggle. The staff have now established that he had a concussion which has explained these crazy conversations.

All in all he is doing great, and just needs to take it easy while he continues recovering.

We have finally told him about the immense support we have received in every way including the Givealittle page and he took this surprisingly well, he is very humbled and gets emotional listening to everyone’s well wishes.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

  • Seriously good update!

      20 May 2025

Hi everyone, just wanted to thank you all for the well wishes, love and support we have received. We are blown away by everyone’s generosity and kindness.

Angus is doing great in Dunedin ICU, the medical team are really impressed with his progress. He is still on some good pain relief, and will have a long recovery ahead of him but is doing his best!

He is currently communicating via a whiteboard but is trying really hard to talk, and the team are supporting him to get there.

He is working with a great physio team, they have had him up doing stretches and walking to a chair to sit.

He’s not currently able to use his phone, but we will get around to reading out some of your messages over the coming days.

Thank you all again for all of the support, we will be forever grateful.

Love, the Mavor clan ❤️ seriously.

Here's an update on our GG.

Mum & Kelly had a wonderful visit this morning, although he's still heavily sedated and unable to talk with a trachea in place, he managed to mouth "I love you," blow kisses, and flashed a couple of smiles. Sometimes it’s just the smallest of things that make you happy. ❤️
