Raising funds to support Gus through his road to recovery.
Riverton, Southland
For those of you who don’t know our Dad Angus, affectionately known as GG, recently suffered a terrible accident while working with horses, something he loves dearly. He was severely injured, with 12 broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a bruised heart. He is currently in critical condition at Dunedin Hospital and will remain in the ICU for at least the next two weeks.
GG is a selfless man, always ready to help others and share his extensive knowledge, especially about racehorses. Despite his stubbornness to accept help, he has always been there for anyone in need. Both GG and Mum have faced significant challenges, including both being diagnosed with and overcoming cancer in the same year. Due to GG’s previous cancer treatment, his recovery from these new injuries will be slow and challenging.
We are setting up this Give a Little page to help alleviate the financial burden on them. GG is on a pension, and Mum is unable to continue her part-time work while she supports him in Dunedin. We deeply appreciate any support you can provide. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity.

Financial assistance to support Angus and Rosie as they navigate the upcoming months, dealing with recovery and the additional costs of travel and accommodation.
Note from Angus 18 July 2025
Just a quick update on my health at present. I am fully up and about now and my ribs are mending remarkably well. Although whether or not I will be back with the horses is yet to be decided in discussion with Rosie.
I am keeping busy with appointments, have some pretty cool medical professionals helping me. I’ve been enjoying all of the phone calls and visits, thank you all.
Thanks again everyone for your kindness and generosity, I assure you it’s made a hell of a difference for both of us.
