Please donate to help me attend the UN Global Development Tour so I can represent NZ now, for the future.
Canterbury
Hi, my name is Rafael Clarke, and I have been selected to go on the UN Youth 2017 Global Development Tour. Please donate in order to make that a reality.
My whole life I have been plagued with an interest for something utterly uninteresting to most; politics. For some time now I have had to find outlets for my guilty pleasure, whether it be through minor arguments with my friends or interviewing my local mayoral candidates, I have had a need to both decipher and express my passion. This trip that I was picked for, along with 20 other young people from around NZ, aids youth in "developing globally". It helps those with an strong interest in politics deciding on what they want to be to find greater meaning in their passions.
The trip takes us through 5 European Parliaments and countless other institutions, with a stop in New York City to speak at the International Youth Assembly. It will most certainly grant me a sense of humility, the sheer volume of experience will I'm sure be worth every penny.
Through my involvement, I want to spend a month in Europe and the US learning more about the world we live in and those that lead us. Then, I want to bring it back to my community, my friends, my school and my family, to tell them just how important their opinions, aspirations and interests are. I want to educate them on how the world outside NZ thinks so as to better my community's youth and older generations.
So please if you're feeling generous I would appreciate anything you can give me, a dollar goes a long way. I hope that I can repay your donation in entertaining stories of my lack of language skills that inevitably will arise from this trip.
