Eddie the guinea pig
Waikato
13 August update:
Eddie had his surgery on Monday, 2 days ago. He did really well and a huge thank you to Cambridge Vets, they were fantastic. He came home with a few days of Metacam for pain relief and a pouch of Critical Care. It will be a few weeks before he can join the home with 4 females and I will post photos when he has settled in there. A huge thank you for the donations, I am very grateful xox
Edited: Eddie has gained 170gms in just a few weeks! He is booked to be neutered Monday 11 August. I can provide a Vet's certificate after his surgery. A lovely indoor home with 4 female guinea pigs is lined up for him when he recovers from his surgery. xox
Eddie the male guinea pig was discovered living by himself in a muddy aviary. He is the sweetest boy. He’s 2 years old and only weighed 882 gms. After being purchased from his previous owner he was taken to the Vet the next day. The Vet diagnosed he had a lung infection needing antibiotics and was very underweight for his age. His eyes were very dull and he was quite flat.
He’s making great progress. An old neck wound is healing, tummy hair is growing and he’s putting on weight. By getting him neutered, a cost of $222, (quote in photos) he can live with a couple of female guinea pigs, rather than on his own. We’re not keen to try and bond him with another male in case he gets picked on.
He’s getting more animated everyday. Eddie now lives indoors, so no more cold damp nights on his own outside.
Neutering ($222), rehabilitation, food.
