Raising funds for IVF round 2 after unsuccessful and pregnancy loss of 1st round.
Canterbury
Amanda and Michael have been on their IVF journey for 1.5 years and now they are hoping for their rainbow baby (a baby after a pregnancy loss). Prior to starting their IVF journey, they lost their first naturally conceived pregnancy 3 years ago. Their first IVF round was unsuccessful and consisted of 3 failed embryo transfers and a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks gestation.
They are now heading into their second round. Public funding only covers so much and there are added expenses that keep popping up. They have exhausted all of their financial opportunities to date and asking for help is their only option in moving forward with this round in March/April.
Michael has a genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis which is in the world's top 7000 rarest conditions. Tuberous Sclerosis has a 50% chance of being passed on to any child conceived. Having T.S means you grow non cancerous tumors in your main organs. If the tumors get too big they start pressing on other areas causing other health issues. Michael had brain surgery at 10 years old to remove a tumor that would have ended his life if it was not removed.
This is the reason why Amanda and Michael have gone down the IVF route. They want any child conceived to have the best possible chance at life.
Amanda was pregnant with a baby boy October 2020, but sadly they lost their boy to Edwards Syndrome at 10 weeks gestation.
All donations will be going towards a test which is called a PGS test. This tests each embryo that is without T.S and eliminates any embryo that may have other chromosomal issues such as Edwards Syndrome. Unfortunately, the PGS testing is not covered under public funding and is currently $1200 per embryo.
Amanda had to leave employment at the start of their IVF journey as she suffers with Fibromyalgia and they are currently living solely on Michael's wages. They will be forever grateful to anyone who can donate to help make their dreams come true and help them become earthside parents in 2021.
Special chromosome tests that are not covered under public funded cycles.
A special thanks to the latest donor who has helped us achieve our first milestone of ONE embryo to be tested.
