Raising funds for urgent skin cancer treatment.
Needing urgent Mohs surgery for Basal Cell Carcinoma on my face/scalp with facial reconstruction.

In early 2016 I noticed a spot by my left ear. This grew in size & in 2019 I had it checked by my GP. Between 2019 & today the lesion has been checked several times & deemed a skin picking injury.
The “wound” (lesion) was never considered suspicious or acknowledged during unrelated GP visits over the years despite being clearly visible. It has now grown from that initial spot to 9cm. It frequently bleeds, is sore & itchy. It is disfiguring, bordering on affecting my ear & I am self-conscious in public.
Last week the lesion was identified as a Basal Cell Carcinoma by a retired Dr who advised me to go back to my GP & demand an urgent referral to dermatology.
My GP again told me that public dermatology is basically non-existent right now.
The universe again came to my aid when a friend who has worked as a derm nurse saw a Facebook post I made about my situation. Amazingly she got me seen privately in less than 24 hours. Mohs surgery was booked for 3rd December 2024.
Mohs is the preferred surgical method for high risk BCC with a 99% cure rate. It is performed under local anaesthesia so is less costly and drawn out than traditional excision..
My procedure & reconstruction with skin grafting is expected to take hours so thankfully the price has been capped. I am grateful to all who have come together to make this happen so quickly and am looking forward to being on the other side!
A full skin check is also planned for next year.

$7000 Mohs surgery & reconstruction.
$2000 Follow up care, recovery, full body skin check.
All funds raised will go towards this and I will make up the rest outside of Givealittle

All Healed Up 1 February 2025
Hi everyone,
Probably my last update on healing as it’s all healed up now! I am eight and a half weeks post op and extremely pleased with the result.
I have a GP appointment next week to look at a couple of other suspect spots (including the one visible on my forehead not far from the handywork) then plan to get a full skin check soon.
Hope you are all settling into the new year and new routines. Thank you all again for your invaluable support, I appreciate each and every one of you and hope some kindness also comes your way xxx
