    Hi all

It's hard to believe but Maddox has now completed his ninth cycle of Chemo! As we speak he is road tripping his way back to his home and own bed in Alexandra.

I can only imagine how bittersweet this is for Maddox and his Mum Catherine and Dad Darryn. While going home is the best thing ever, they are also leaving the people who have taken such great care of them and have been like family to them.

Maddox will have an MRI in mid-December and will need maintenance Chemo for the next 6 months. I believe this can be done a little closer to home but is still a 2 hour drive away.

We've got Christmas and the hot weather to look forward to now and getting the whole family together to celebrate having Maddox and his Mum and Dad back home.

Not enough thanks can ever be given to you all for your support. But thank you :-)

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a while!

Where to start.............Maddox has now completed his fifth round of Chemo, so is more than half way through the initial treatment plan now. He has also started radiation and has completed his first whole week (last week).

He had an MRI in between treatments and had a great result. A 30% reduction of the size of the tumour. Great work Maddox, you're doing and amazing job!

Before he started radiation, he got in a trip back to Alexandra. Its always nice to stay in your own bed, right?! Their cat Sam missed him so much and slept with him on the bed every night, awww (photo in the gallery).

He also got to catch up with his friends and classmates :-)

He had his Grandparents visit him in the weekend and they headed for a trip to Akaroa on the most glorious sunny day, where Maddox made friends with a pack of dogs and had a cheeky seagull steal his piece of fish (they had fish and chips for lunch).

You may be wondering about the title of this update, 'moisty merman', haha. If you head on over to the gallery, you will see Maddox with a picture of his radiation mask, which has been painted for him with a design of his choice. He chose Moisty Merman which is a character in Fortnite (a game Maddox loves to play). Isn't the mask amazing!!

I will be heading down to Christchurch this week to catch up with Maddox and the family, so am really looking forward to that.

Thanks everyone, hope you are well. Until next time.

Awesome work Maddox. Love the family pic and the pics with the doggie and your cat! Mask is amazing, I’m sure you will keep that forever. Pretty cool memorabilia of a not so cool time.

    Hi everyone

Maddox has had his third cycle of chemo now and he is getting through it like the champ he is. His chemo is done every three weeks, over the course of a Thursday and a Friday and he has another small round every week. There will be a MRI scan completed in the next week or so, to check on his progress.

The picture attached is one of Maddox with his Dad, putting all the beads he has received on some string. He gets a bead for each procedure he has.

Maddox has had quite a few visitors over the last month. He has had his brothers stay, both sets of his Grandparents and he had some friends visit too. I also got to visit with him :-)

He is looking forward to his brothers staying for a week over the school holidays. I wonder how long that will last, big brothers are so annoying! haha.

    Stay warm out there :-)

    Hi all

Just a quick update on how Maddox is doing. Firstly though, Catherine, Darryn and family would like to thank you from the bottom of their hearts, for the overwhelming generosity and love you have shown. Thank you to everyone who has donated or shared the page, words cannot express how grateful we all are.

Maddox had his first round of chemo two weeks ago now and a top up infusion last week. He handled it like the superstar he is. He hasn’t been feeling the best this week though, so is spending a few nights in the hospital just to be safe and so he can be monitored. He had his Grandma and Grandad drive up and visit him this week, so he was very excited about that and is looking forward to seeing his big brothers this weekend!
