Maddox has just turned 9 and has recently been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer found in young children. Please help support him.
Alexandra, Otago
My nephew Maddox has recently been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer), only a couple of weeks after he celebrated his 9th birthday and has had his first round of chemo this week. He is an energetic boy who takes advantage of his Central Otago backyard, loves fishing, LOVES to take his scooter to the skate park! He has also developed a love of basketball and got one for his birthday, which he has not been able to play with, yet.
This news is fresh for us and as a family we are still in shock and devastated by this diagnosis.
While Maddox is undergoing treatment in Christchurch his parents will be with him, leaving his two older brothers back in Alexandra to continue with their schooling. Maddox’s Mum is an early childhood educator and the family is proud to be part of the Alexandra Community who always lend a hand, now unfortunately, Maddox’s family are the ones in need of a hand.
While their lives have been put on hold and to allow them to concentrate on getting Maddox healthy, they will need some financial support to keep things running and to support Maddox's brothers back home. Funds will also help to cover any costs of travel and accommodation for his brothers to visit when able.
We greatly appreciate any help given, whether it be financial or by simply sharing the page. It all helps.
Any donations not used will be given to Ronald McDonald House.
I am Maddox's Aunty
The funds will be used for any travel or accommodation for his two brothers. It will also be used to help cover any bills over the period of Maddox's treatment, while his parents are with him.
Maddox Gale is coming to town 8 November 2022
Hi all
It's hard to believe but Maddox has now completed his ninth cycle of Chemo! As we speak he is road tripping his way back to his home and own bed in Alexandra.
I can only imagine how bittersweet this is for Maddox and his Mum Catherine and Dad Darryn. While going home is the best thing ever, they are also leaving the people who have taken such great care of them and have been like family to them.
Maddox will have an MRI in mid-December and will need maintenance Chemo for the next 6 months. I believe this can be done a little closer to home but is still a 2 hour drive away.
We've got Christmas and the hot weather to look forward to now and getting the whole family together to celebrate having Maddox and his Mum and Dad back home.
Not enough thanks can ever be given to you all for your support. But thank you :-)
