Please help us raise money to recover the costs spent on Luka’s surgeries.
Canterbury
Raising money for Luka who suffered severe injuries due to being trapped in an unguarded sofa.
Last month our 6 month kitten became trapped in the mechanism of our new sofa. We were not sitting on the sofa at the time. Luka ran under the couch by himself as kittens do exploring.
Our kitten become stuck between the exposed moving parts of the couch which has no protective covers to prevent access and accidents. Our kittens tail was trapped and the left side of his body. We had to get the Emergency after hours vet to sedate Luka to free him from the couch, who later described Luka had suffered ‘severe crushing injuries,’ and ‘significant instability to the pelvis.’ Luka required two nights in hospital to get his pain under control and waited a week after the accident to have surgery due to the surgical plates and the availability of the senior vet.
My partner and I, along with the vets believe that the couch is unsafe and if the mechanism which Luka got caught in was guarded Luka would have not suffered from his traumatic injuries which have caused extreme stress and financial burden to my partner and I who are a young couple, just brought first house and have lost work due to COVID-19.
The vet bills cost us $5000.00 so we would like to raise funds to cover this which is a direct impact of the injuries Luka endured due to the unguarded couch which they continue to sell which is not only a risk to pets but also young children.
If all money we have spent is recovered the remaining money will be donated to the SPCA.
