To fund an overseas family trip for two amazing people who have given so much to the NZ community over the last 12 years.
Nationwide
My sister Amber & her husband Rob have been in full time voluntary Community Support roles for the best part of 12 years. That’s 12 years straight of selflessly investing their time, energy and compassion into the lives of others who are in need of support in terms of emergency housing and care.
Usually there would be a sabbatical break at 7 years, however Amber and Rob have worked almost a “double shift”. Whilst they love what they do, this has meant that they have not been able to do a lot of things that others may take for granted.
With Rob’s mother and extended family living in Germany, their time together has been few and far between. The only trip both Rob and Amber have made to Germany was when Rob’s father passed away.
Amber & Rob now have an opportunity to have their first sabbatical at the beginning of 2020!
My reasons for starting this fundraiser are two-fold; While I had the luxury and option of travelling over to NZ to celebrate Rob’s 40th birthday, I felt that my funds for travel were better placed investing in them having the trip of their lives; and for Rob to see his mum and connect with extended family in Germany during happier times.
I’d love to be able to give them this opportunity to have an amazing break overseas in Germany together, without the worry of how they would be able to fund it. Please help me make this happen for them by donating whatever you can so that two people who give so much to others, can have a well-earned break and enjoy making many happy memories together!
I’m sure any funds above the fundraising total will be put to good use within the community Amber & Rob support.

A thank you from Amber & Rob. 8 December 2019
Morning all,
Amber & Rob sent a thank you email they wanted shared to everyone.
They move out of their Wellington house today and officially start their sabbatical.
Matt and Nay
We are overwhelmed and so grateful
Thank you for the gift that you and our family and friends have given us.We feel so loved and supported.
It is such a phenomenal gift to have support to head into our sabbatical with options for adventure that we would not have had without your generosity. It is also true for us that the greatest gift is the love and support expressed to us here. We love our life and feel so privileged to live the way we do with the people we do. We also know it has challenges for our family - our availability to our young people can make us less able to connect to easily and it means so much to have the support and love from you all that these have been good choices.
It's hard to express how much the love and support that we have experienced over the years keeps us going, with our friends and family not just being gracious to us when we have tricky lives but cheerleading us through the tough times and celebrating with us in the good.
For family and friends to come together in the way you have and do this again is actually overwhelming. We just feel so privileged, so lucky, so cared for, so loved.
Thank you.
We are sending this through Matt and Nay because we're not sure how this has all worked and who or how to send our thanks to. So we're sending this letter with love thanks and a thousand invitations to join us on our sabbatical adventure - whether it be for a summer cider at the beach or something more far flung. We are so looking forward to sharing this season with you all.
We want to notice as well that Matt and Nay were the instigators of creating something so extraordinarily thoughtful and generoous for us. We are so grateful for the love and support shown in this gift and we are floored by the generosity of Matt and Nay in bringing it together, in loving us in yet another way. Guys we are not surprised by your generosity and kindness - but we are overwhelmed by it. Thank you. We love you. You lift us up. We love who you are together and the way that in ways like this and others your generosity and your love can change the world for people.
Arohanui - with great love
Amber and Rob
