Unfortunately Dad passed away in his sleep in the early hours on Friday 21st June 2024 and the funeral was conducted by my brothers in India in my absence as I had returned to NZ on 15th June.

The funeral was held on the same day and everything went well by the grace of God.

Thank you each one for your generous support during this challenging time.

Special thanks on behalf of Dad for your compassion. God bless you all

The funds raised on this page will be used to settle outstanding credit card bill used to pay off the hospital bill and expenses incurred for Dads care.

Thank you all once again for your support.

    Regards,

    Lokiah Gurram Ravaniah

Thank you everyone for your generous donations to support Dad’s treatment. The Doctors have advised that chemo is not recommended for Dad due to his bedridden condition and also brain surgery (burr hole) to drain out blood is also not advisable due to decrease in platelets and haemoglobin. The chest infection also hasn’t subsided. As the treatment hasn’t been successful so far, we have decided not to continue with Dad’s treatment and discharged Dad last week Thursday and moved Dad to Palliative care as per Doctor’s advice.

With the help of insurance, we have settled 60% of the hospital bill and remaining bill has been paid by credit card and my personal savings. The money raised on the page will go towards paying off Dads outstanding payment on credit card next month and for his palliative care at the Rest Home.

Thank you once again for your support and prayers. Truly appreciate each one for your generous donation at this challenging time.

This page will be closed by end of this week so amount will be paid to my New Zealand account by 20-25th of July and the funds will be transferred to my Indian account to pay off outstanding debts.

I have enclosed the discharge summary and hospital bill copy for your reference.

    Regards,

  • Update on Dads health

Doctor have confirmed Dad has Acute MyeloMonocytic Leukemia from the flow cytometry bone marrow and peripheral blood test.

Another risk is there is bleeding in Dad’s brain (burr hole treatment needed but not advisable for his age and bedridden condition). Dad is very keen due to the cancer diagnosis and his bp was 80/40 when he came to hospital.

Chest infection is also very bad, there is septic shock and ascites. Dad’s Haemoglobin and Platelets is very low).

So far 55 x Blood Transfusions, Platelets and Plasma transfusions) has been administered via central nerve IV and his platelets hasn’t increased from 30000 and it’s currently less than 190000. Haemoglobin is 7 and his health has been deteriorating. All medications has been stopped as Doctors advised that his condition is not curable and suggested chemo is not advisable.

I have paid hospital bills with 60% insurance and rest from my pocket and credit card (around $5000 plus $5000 for his blood transfusions and external lab procedures etc. We have decided to move dad from hospital to palliative care externally where he will be receiving fluids orally via Ryles Tube and a catheter in place and care from the Palliative care staff. I will also be visiting Oncology and Neurology outpatients for second opinion to see if there are any affordable cancer meds and treatment for bleed without surgery . Thanks everyone for your generous support, means a lot for me and my family at this stage.
