Support Vihaana's medical treatment
Auckland
Vihaana's first bone barrow transplant wasn't successful due to secondary graft failure, which eventually cost approximately $50,000 USD in addition to granulocyte and SDPC (platelets) donor costs.
On day 43rd of the transplant, she had developed very high fever almost 106 degrees ferenheit which affected her engrafted stem cells and her cell counts began to drop.
After this, she got severally ill with sepsis. The consulting doctors, in addition with other specialists in the field informed us that this was a "do or die" situation and recommended a second transplant. With very minimal time, we decided to proceed with 2nd transplant in order to give our daughter, Vihaana a fighting chance at life.
The second transplant was estimated to be $35-$40,000USD excluding medications, granulocyte and sdpc (platelets) donations.
The average cost of medicine per day is approximately $1500-$2000 FJD.
Vihaana has received approximately 21 platelet transfusions (sdpc) with an average cost of 4500 INR per each donor.
Due to complications that have arisen after her second transplant, Vihaana is expected to be admitted to hospital for several more weeks.
Once discharged from hospital, she will require close follow up in outpatient clinics for minimum of 2 months.
Currently, Vihhana is fighting the biggest battle of her life. Recurrent infections such as Pneumonia, CMV virus reactivation and is still admitted in BMT ICU at Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon India.
