This campaign isn’t just about hardship, but about hope and the courage to build a better life.
Wellington
Before war, violence, and loss tore up his country, Stephen’s dream was to become an architect and design buildings to uplift communities. This special young man from Myanmar has faced unimaginable hardship—yet his determination remains unbroken. Stephen’s journey began like many other students, eager to learn, grow, and build a future. But everything changed when a brutal civil war erupted in Myanmar, upending his life and dreams. Forced to leave his home and family, Stephen sought refuge in Thailand, working as a kitchen hand seven days a week just to make ends meet. Yet through it all, he never let go of his dream. After searching and persevering for a year, Stephen has been accepted into the Bachelor of Architecture programme at Victoria University of Wellington. This is his chance to rebuild his life and help shape a better future.
I'm a personal friend of Stephen, supporting his efforts to complete his studies in New Zealand. As a retired teacher, I’ve seen how life-changing education can be. As a fellow New Zealander, I’m asking for your support in helping Stephen pursue his dream.
Stephen needs our help to cover tuition fees, student visa costs, and living expenses. Every dollar brings him closer to a purposeful life built on education and creativity.
Final Update – Let’s Bring This Home for Stephen 7 November 2025
This is my final update for our crowdfunding project to support Stephen’s education in New Zealand. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already achieved so much — every contribution has made a real difference in helping Stephen move closer to this life-changing opportunity.
The campaign will close next month, and we’re nearly there. I’m reaching out one last time to ask for your help — whether that’s through another small donation or by sharing this campaign with friends, family, or colleagues who might want to contribute.
Together, we can finish strong and give Stephen and his family the chance of a brighter future.
