Help Rebuild Lachy's Lego

Meet Lachlan Bird, he is my wonderful soon-to-be 7 yr old nephew and is also a Lego master When he is not busy being the Red Baron, he can normally be found building, creating and road-testing his Lego creations.

Lachy and his family had a very lucky escape in the early hours of December 28th 2015 as their house erupted in flames. Fortunately, they made it out safely and only Ben (Lachy's dad) was injured- he sustained an arm laceration as he had to smash his way out. Thankfully they also saved their lovely retriever dog Sula, they lost their other beloved dog Polly to a tumor, just a week prior.

When the Birds discovered the fire around 1am, it was all they could do to run from their burning house. Lachy didn’t even have time to rescue Spot- his most faithful toy dog. He has lost everything and now is an opportunity for us to give a little back. I believe that helping rebuild Lachy’s Lego collection will help make his 7th birthday all the more special.

Ben, Kirsty, Lachlan and Oscar have been overwhelmed with generosity by their local community, friends and the amazing Ambulance team at St Johns. They are well set up at least for the short term as they begin to slowly rebuild their lives. In the weeks and months to come, we’d like to help restore the handmade and wholesome gifts of home, whanau and spirit that have been lost.

What many people don’t know is that Ben and Kirsty between them have helped saved thousands of people over the years in NZ, Darwin and Perth. Kirsty in her roles as an Emergency Department Doctor and toxicologist, and Ben as a former Nurse and now nearly a decade as a Paramedic with St Johns Ambulance.

I know Ben and Kirsty are grateful we want help rebuild Lachy's Lego collection, but will not want him to have an excessive amount. If we raise too much for one kids collection here, I’d like to leave it to them to choose another deserving girl, boy, family or families to help rebuild their Lego collections and help show the world yet again what huge hearts they have.
