Rebuild Nepal

  • Time to build :)

Our Indian/Nepali team have been visiting remote areas in Nepal to assess and talk to community leaders about the most pressing needs.

For around $3000NZ we can build a simple Nepali house. It will provide shelter and allow families to move out from under canvas.

Because many of the roads are not useable it will mean much of the work will be done by hand as trucks can not be used on many of the roads.

The first lot of funds for the first lot of houses has been sent. See the photo of a home that can be built from local supplies.

Its now the monsoon season, the need for shelter is the greatest its been since the first earthquake. Tents will not be adequate for the change in season. Its time for us to go beyond the food, tents and medical supplies we have been providing and to begin to put plans in place that will mean more permanent housing is found. Plans for housing and specifics are currently been drawn up :)

Orphans Aid is involved in helping those around us particularly in Northern India where Nepalese people have fled the country.

We have begun to talk with Nepal village leaders how we can best help for the long term.

One thing we are certain of the rebuild is huge and we all have a part to play. Thank you for your support. The photo is Ram's house, it is not far from Kathmandu he supplies Nepali crafts/blankets which we sell to fundraise for this region. His family are sleeping in the tents as they try and find some solutions before the Monsoons hit in June.
