Heal Jenny’s beautiful mind
Wellington
On 22nd March 2022, Jenny experienced a massive brain haemorrhage. Jenny quickly became unresponsive and the decision was made to make an immediate air transfer to Wellington for emergency intensive care
Imaging of Jenny’s brain revealed an arteriovenous malformation. This is an abnormally configured network of arteries and veins - a rare condition that presents itself usually in the way it did for Jenny, on rupturing spontaneously, and with often severe consequence. After an agonising week spent stabilising Jenny while specialist teams united to plan her life-saving surgery, Jenny underwent 30 painstaking hours of time in theatre hoping to remove this life-threatening area of blood vessels precariously entwined throughout the brain
Jenny, Dan, and their children Wilder (5) and Solveig (3), are Americans who moved to the Wairarapa two years ago so that Jenny could study for a PhD at Te Herenga Wake Victory University of Wellington. Strict covid restrictions meant the family was left with the gruelling role of navigating their children through the painfully fragile situation alone, in limbo between Wellington hospital and home
We write in hope of support to raise funds to offer this wonderful family the financial cushion in which to concentrate on the most important things in life
Your help will go towards the practical costs of childcare, bills, rents etc. Let’s pull together to give what we can to alleviate, to some degree, the magnitude of this crisis with an uncertain future
Our relationship started when our children met at school
Essential living expenses due to Dan needing to care for their two dependent children with a sudden and unexpected loss of dual income.

We thank everyone for the immense aroha and community we've felt during a very difficult year in our beautiful new home. There's still plenty of recovery ahead, but today we welcome Jenny home with hearts overflowing with gratitude and hope. Hope to see you all around the Wairarapa!
Ngā mihi nui,
Dan (Jenny's husband)
