Help us rebuild the Fungling Red Panda Network field office. Support the forest guardians and red panda. And name our male red panda cub.
Auckland
The Red Panda Network field office in Fungling, Nepal was destroyed by a fire that raged through the town on March 23rd.
The fire ravaged shops, offices and homes and displaced over 100 families. The houses are now being replaced, but the work of the Red Panda Network forest guardians has been stopped by the loss of their office and equipment.
Working out of the Himali Conservation Forum offices, the Red Panda Network field office is the base for the region’s Red Panda Network forest guardians. Not only is the guardians’ livelihood at stake, so too is the work to conserve red panda in the wild.
Help us rebuild the Red Panda Network field office and support the forest guardians and red panda.
And, when you make your donation, you can also help us name our 11 week old, male, red panda cub!
During April, when you make a donation, you can add your suggested name in the comments box on the donation page. Our keepers will select from the suggestions and announce the cub's name on May 1st. Remember, red panda's are from Nepal so Nepalese names are preferred.
Auckland Zoo has supported Red Panda Network since 2011. Zoo staff have helped with building, training, research, and fundraising in support of the network's efforts to conserve red panda in the wild.
Over the past four years, the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund has granted over $40,000 to Red Panda Network in support of the forest guardian programme.
A new $10,000 grant has been approved to help rebuild the Fungling field office.
