I am fundraising for Amanuel* and his family, with the help of close family and friends. Amanuel is a UN verified Eritrean refugee (for 12 years), now living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ethiopia is now under a State of Emergency (since October 2016) which means the small amount of work that Amanuel could get is now almost non existent. His wife, Ella, left to try and get to Europe over 2 years ago. He has not heard from her since so does not know if she is still alive. Amanuel is the sole caregiver to his daughters, Sophia and Asmarina.

I have come to know Amanuel through my friends.

Together we are trying to get Amanuel out of Ethiopia to be resettled in New Zealand, Australia or Canada as between us we have contacts/family in those countries. Wherever he and his daughters go there chances will be better with financial support ( It could pave the way for a Community Sponsorship). The total amount needed is unknown, but he could need this support for at least a year in his new country before government help is available. ( *To protect their safety we cannot use their real names)

I'm involved as I have come to know of Amanuels situation through family and friends. They have worked with him in Eritrea and Ethiopia, so can verify his good character. As our youngest child is about to leave home I have a little more time to think of others who are much less fortunate than us, and it is time to pay it forward. Use of funds

The funds will be needed for Immigration legal advice, submitting of documents, airfares for the refugee family , housing and costs of living for 12 to 24 months.
