Thank you for helping me return to Greece to volunteer with refugees
Canterbury
Kia ora, I'm Bethana a kiwi nurse planning to return to Greece for the second half of this year to volunteer with refugees. The majority of people I'll be working with are from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan. At the moment there are a growing number of people stuck in limbo in Greece as surrounding European nations have closed their borders preventing the onward travel planned by most of these families. I spent some time volunteering in Athens in 2016 and am very passionate about returning to be a part of something positive in this situation. I will be involved with a local group run out of Omonia church. They are providing meals, language lessons, assistance finding accommodation, advocacy with asylum applications, medical and social services in the port, squats and camps, and most importantly being family and a listening ear. Recently they have been partnering with Servant group international, Samaritans purse, and World outreach international. I am so excited to be a part of what they are doing and especially to help with meeting their medical needs. Volunteering of course does not include a salary so I am looking for a bit of support to pay for food and accommodation while I am there. If you are able to be a part showing up to love and serve people thank you so much. If you want to know more or want to keep up to date with what I am doing please get in touch. Nga mihi nui.
