Help Ale & Dan enjoy the time she has left, create memories for her 2 young children, relieve financial burden & help with medication costs
Hillsborough, Christchurch
Last year Ale was given the life-changing diagnosis of terminal bowel and liver cancer at just 43. The cruelest shock and anyone’s worst nightmare. After many, many rounds of treatment, her doctors have said any medical options to slow her cancer have run their course.
Right now, we want to provide financial assistance to Ale and Dan and their family so they can enjoy the time she has left and create lasting memories for their two dear children, Emilia 7 and Manu 4.
Whilst Ale’s traditional treatment options have run their course, there are still some supporting/complementary treatment options she would like to try but are cost prohibitive. These are treatments that would provide her reassurance and comfort.
Dan isn’t able to work right now due to being a full-time carer for Ale and their whānau during the palliative care stage.
From appointments, administering medication, getting kids to and fro, managing his, hers and the kids emotional needs, kids activities, meals, working alongside the Nurse Maude palliative care team, house admin, collecting prescriptions, holding it all together. Our heart goes out to Dan, we know you have no choice but to carry on but man you’re doing an amazing job.
Ale’s Mum was able to come out to Aotearoa to support Ale on her journey. She is elderly, not able to speak English and therefore is unable to work here. We want to support Ale’s Mum to remain here to be beside her daughter for whatever time they have left.
I am a friend of both Alenjandra and Dan and my daughter is in the same class as Emilia
Funds will go towards complementary medication - intravenous high dose vitamin C, creating special memories for the children, relieving day-to-day financial pressure and helping keep her mum by her side. Any leftover funds will go towards funeral costs.
Alejandra's Final Days 12 December 2022
It is with deep sadness that I share with your Alejandra died peacefully on Saturday morning 10th December.
It has been an emotional journey for her family and friends and is hard to put into words the impact that a death like this has on her community.
She has spent the last couple of days at her home surrounded and covered in flowers and aroha.
Her children have been amazing and along with her cousins, they have all guided the adults naturally in how to navigate this tough journey.
She will be farewelled on Tuesday 13th December in Christchurch overlooking the ocean and surrounded by family and friends.
My words can't do justice in this time. Please spare a thought for Alejandra and her courageous fight, her two beautiful children and her tower of strength husband as they farewell their beloved mother and wife.
While her physical body is no more, she will live on in our hearts, memories, thoughts and in spirit.
Go well my friend, I miss you so much xx
Celia
