    Hello,

We would like you to know that with your donations we have been able to continue to help displaced refugees as much as possible. This means most nights we continue to host families. On the occasions our house has been full we have been able to put groups up for a night or two in a local hotel or bed and breakfast type accommodation. We have also been able to help two families settle into semi permanent apartments here in Szeged. Buy the basic things to set them up including SIM cards, basic household items, educational books and toys for the children etc. We have also made some more supply donations to those displaced within Ukraine.

We have paused the fundraising page as we had received a generous amount and it is enough for what we are capable of using to help at the moment and in the near future.

    Many thanks again,

    Royce and Sonja.

    Hello all,

When we started this page it certainly was not with expectations of reaching this level of funds! However, over 200,000 refugees have crossed the border into Hungary since February 24. These funds raised have enabled us to continue hosting refugees and we have had between 4 and 12 of them almost every night. Many are mothers, grandmothers and children and sometimes men who are disabled or have serious health conditions. Our role aside from giving them a safe place to sleep is to feed them, help them find medications they need, helping with finding information on various systems and countries and getting the supplies they need to go on their way. We have also been able to set up a room in Royces office with beds that is currently full too.

With these funds we have been able to go directly to large wholesale shops, buy supplies in bulk and personally drive them to the first contact points in Budapest. Delivering to the Red Cross tents where they get handed out directly to the refugees arriving off the trains. We were also able to buy many blankets and hand them out ourselves and with the help of a Hungarian humanitarian group at the stations. This was just one delivery made possible by your kind donations and we will be able to continue making these kinds of donations weekly. We were also able to get supplies for babies to a doctor who travelled across the border and was able to get them to bomb shelters inside Ukraine.

It is a huge experience having refugees in your own home who are trying to find lost friends, keep in contact with partners, husbands and fathers back fighting in Ukraine, while they are trying to make plans to start a new life somewhere, some of them who have never left Ukraine before.

Thanks again for your thoughts and support.

    xx
