Remember Steve "Coach" McKean by donating to young elite athletes, a cause he was extremely passionate about.
Taranaki
Our larger-than-life husband and father, Steve "Coach" McKean, passed away on Monday 3rd May, 2021. Best friend, confidante and adored husband of Rachel. Inspiration, biggest champion and constant teacher to daughter, Naomi.
Coach McKean was an instrumental and avid supporter of budding Taranaki sportspeople, especially through his years as Secondary School Sports Coordinator and Regional Sports Director. In his memory we encourage those who are able to donate to the The Coach McKean Fund – held and administered by the Taranaki Foundation. The Fund will benefit both the "Future Champions" Programme, at Sport Taranaki (https://www.sporttaranaki.org.nz/young-people/future-champions/) and promising young elite athletes in the broader community. Donations are tax-deductible.
Coach is survived by his loving wife Rachel and daughter Naomi.
"Future Champions" provides mentoring, personal development sessions and comprehensive workshops to assist talented young athletes to fulfill their potential. Other young elite athletes may receive grants to assist with their sporting development.
