Please help me raise funds for Remy Rabbit's vet bill.
Wellington
On the 28th of March 2019 my worst nightmare came true - I lost my little boy. Suddenly. Unexpectedly. In the worst way you can imagine.
Someone opened up the rabbits gate in the early hours of the morning (there is literally no way it could be opened in any other way). We have an idea of who it was, but no way to track them down. :-( A small consolation is that these people won't be back so this cannot happen to any other bunnies.
Remy & Clarke of course took the opportunity to go on a "grand adventure" - except it ended with Remy near death. It seems a dog got hold of Remy and he sustained serious injuries...
..
The moment I saw him sitting on the path outside I knew he had some kind of head trauma. He stumbled towards me (bless his heart) and promptly fell over.
On arriving at the vet his vitals were surprisingly okay - this meant I decided to leave him there for the day on pain relief, receiving fluid therapy and in the care of my favourite team of vet nurses.
As the day wore on Remy went downhill... due to his other disabilities syringe feeding him was virtually impossible.
That night I visited him in the "hospital" knowing that I was going to have to make *that* decision. I drove there hoping for a miracle - but the moment I saw him I knew there was no coming back.
I brought him out of his cage and onto my lap and thanked him. I thanked him for all the life lessons he taught me, for being my best friend and of course - for all our amazing adventures together. He went peacefully in my arms, just where he belonged. <3
..
Remy was dealt a pretty poor hand at life - having splay leg and also damaged nasal passages which caused runny eyes and an often sniffly nose. He never let his disabilities hold him back and he turned out to be one of the most active and cheeky rabbits I have ever met. He touched so many lives over the past three years and spent much of his life helping me rehabilitate sick, injured, abused and neglected rabbits via Wellington Rabbit Rescue.
I hate making this page, I hate asking for money, I hate feeling as though I'm failing as a fur-mama by doing this... but due to having my car broken into and moving house I just cannot afford the vet bill. It was totally unexpected and I literally don't even own anything I can sell to raise money.
All funds raised will go directly onto Remy's vet bill.
If we raise more than the vet bill then anything extra will (of course) go directly to Wellington Rabbit Rescue. Remy's legacy will live on via WRR.
