Fundraising for Te Ataarangi Hui Whanui 2016!
Wellington
To celebrate Te wiki o te reo Maori this year I have committed to the Reo-o-thon challege: For 6 hours on Friday 31st July I will speak only in Maori, no English allowed!
I'm taking on this challenge to raise awareness for te reo Maori, AND raise funds for Te Ataarangi Hui Whanui 2016. This is a national hui (gathering) of 600+ students and teachers of te reo Maori from all around Aotearoa. These gatherings build community and keep Maori language and culture alive! All funds raised go directly to supporting this cause.
I'm also inviting all my kaitautoko (supporters) to challenge me further with extra tasks. Challenges so far are:
- Perform a rap song in Maori,
- Sing twinkle twinkle little star in Maori.
- Teach acroyoga in Maori.
- Have at least one conversation every hour (no hiding from the world!)
- Write a recipe in Maori.
Any more idea - throw them at me!
To all my supporters - He mihi tino nui ki a koutou katoa!
I'm a Māori language student raising funds for Te Ataarangi Hui Whānui 2016.
