Hello my name is Reuben Houghton I am a 17 year old student, I have been selected to represent New Zealand in the Junior World Rowing Champs
Waikato
I have been selected to represent New Zealand in the Junior World Rowing Championships held in the Netherlands in 3 months time. I am currently in year 13 at Hamilton Boys High School balancing acdemics, leadership roles at school and full time training.
I have been rowing for four years in one of the most sucessful High Schools Rowing programme learning about hard work, discipline and team work to achieve your goals.
In 2015 I was a part of the sucessful winning Maadi 8 crew and 2016 I currently hold 3 National titles in the mens club coxed 4, Mens under 19 four and mens club eight.
With the challenge of maintaining credits at school and training 20-24 hours per week,as well as leadership duties as a school prefect, maintaining a Coeliacs diet my day is full.
My parents are and have been my biggest supporters from day one in rowing, with my father being an ex rower himself, but with the current economic downturn affecting the Dairy Industry my patrents are facing a sizeable financial loss for the year, I would appreciate every dollar donated towards this oppourtunity to represent and i will wear the silver fern with extreme pride.
