Fund raiser for Ben (of RGB) to replace the lights he'd supplied to Light Nelson for FREE that were literally RIPPED OFF during the Festiva
Nationwide
Ben donated countless hours of his time and the use of thousands of dollars worth of his gear to the first Light Nelson festival in 2013 and again this year, creating magic in the dark of mid-winter nights for the people of Nelson

Ben's generosity, in the spirit of the festival, extended to supplying and installing his own lights to illuminate the exterior of Old St John's in Hardy Street
As if it wasn't enough that entry to this community event was FREE, someone decided to literally RIP OFF Ben's lights
"They were screwed to the wooden frame. They literally ripped them off the building and damaged the frames of the building."
"It's such a downer. We are giving 40,000 people so much pleasure for free, then some selfish people are going around doing that. It leaves a really nasty taste in my mouth"
Ben isn't the only victim
The whole community will miss seeing his lights, which are used throughout the year at Nelson School of Music's Winter Festival in July, the Nelson Arts Festival in October, etc
Update for 01/08/2014 1 August 2014
From Ben: A big THANK YOU to the very generous people who have donated money towards replacing my lights stolen from Old St. John's Church exterior I do like to be generous with my time and business - the lights stolen were sponsored by me as part of my involvement in NSOM Music Festival and Light Nelson, a free event, and having them literally ripped of the building is so sad to see in a place like Nelson. We have had even more lights stolen from the park, and this has meant the Talking Trees project that was meant to be up for longer has had to be de-rigged At about $5,000/year to insure my lighting kit, with huge excesses, it puts companies like mine in a difficult position and now I have to seriously look at what outside lighting I will offer to people in the future I hope the thieves realise how much long term damage they have done A tiny minority ruins it for everyone else. If any more people wish to donate towards me replacing my kit, then I would very gratefully accept I need at least a $1,000 more to do this Kind Regards Ben Clegg Director and Owner of RGB Event Lighting ""bringing the light back to the people""
