The Peterson family have established this page for those who wish to donate to the Marsden and Chelsea Daycare Trust.
Wellington
Our Father, Richard Peterson passed away last Friday, two days before his 78th birthday. He was a good Father who devoted his life to the success of his family. While he struggled with depression and dementia over the final years of his life, he will be remembered as a brilliant lawyer, talented musician, a champion fencer and a man of intelligence and integrity who would never back down from the things he really cared about.
Dad was proud if his family and their achievements but one of his lasting legacies will be the work he and Mum put into the Marsden and Chelsea Clubs, which provide support to families with dementia sufferers. This work began after Mum and Dad's own experience in caring for Dad's mother. The Marsden Club was established as the first centre of its kind in New Zealand. These clubs provide the families with support they need to continue caring for loved ones in their homes and allow dementia sufferers to remain part of their communities. The Clubs proptect the dignity of their members and provide them with a place to go during the day where they can enjoy a stimulating social environment.
In lieu of flowers, Richard's family has established this webpage for donations the Marsden and Chelsea Daycare Trust.
The Chelsea and Marsden Day Care Trusts provide a high quality professional day care programme for people with memory loss from Alzheimers disease or other related disorders in a socially stimulating home-like environment.
The funds will be used to support the running of the clubs.
