For Ricky, the person who never asks anything of anyone..its now our time to ask for him, supporting him in his battle against brain cancer.
Auckland
Ricky is our son, dad, partner, grandfather, brother, uncle, and nephew. An avid sci-fi fan, with that wicked sense of humor, who we all love, and who for all of us fulfills a different part of our lives.
He has been tirelessly fighting brain cancer since 2014, when he was diagnosed with a malignant grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma, which is still holding the upper hand and unfortunately continues to grow.
Everyday since, he has been battling this confronting, merciless disease that has been so unforgiving despite being met by Ricky at every turn, fighting, striving to be able to get back to any sort of normal so that he can live and enjoy living. That has just not been possible, while what started as undergoing surgery to have a biopsy, surgeons then realized that it was inoperable, so then and there, they decided to take as much of the tumor out as they could. His life as he knew it then turned into a life of rounds of radiation and chemotherapy treatment for the last 18 months, against all our hopes, so far these treatments have not had the results we were hoping for.
We, as a family are asking for help, help that he would never ask for, for himself. We would appreciate any help towards medical costs, which are a daily financial burden for Ricky, which in turn would help to alleviate the day to day grind for him, and to have some fun and time to just enjoy life once this chemo treatment has finished. We just really want to help him live his life and to do whatever makes him happy, in any and every way that we can.
Please, friends, family, anyone reading this, any donation of any kind even if it's $5 will help immensely and be gratefully appreciated. Also send your prayers, positive thoughts and kind words Ricky's way, all of which will be gratefully and warmly received.
I am Ricky's sister.
