In January next year Ric will challenge himself to raise funds to combat mental health and vaping in young people.
Canterbury
On January 21st 2023 I will be running 62km whilst climbing 2263m elevation raising money for Life Education Trust Canterbury and their new project to combat mental health and vaping in young people.
Please donate even just a small amount now and pass on this cause through your social media.
• New Zealand has one of the worst youth suicide rates in the OECD – and on average 20 young people are admitted to hospital each week as a result of self-harm.
• New Zealand has one of the highest child obesity rates and we know this leads to poor mental health, higher incidences of being a victim of bullying and lower educational achievement.
• One in 5 children say they are really sad or stressed about things most of the time. Six out of ten say they have been bullied.
• 26% of students reported vaping and 15% reported smoking cigarettes in the past week.
• Nearly 20% of students are vaping daily or several times a day, the majority with high nicotine doses.
• Over half of those vaping were vaping more frequently and at higher nicotine doses than last year.
Life Education exists to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to make healthy decisions for themselves. Our vision is that children will reach their full potential and our philosophy focuses on the well-being and mental health of children.
All funds rasied will go directly to Life Education Trust Canterbury
