Join me on my journey as I tackle the world’s toughest horse race in Mongolia, all in support of Mint Charitable Trust.
Wanaka, Otago
Hannah here, a 27-yr old From Wanaka New Zealand with a love for the wildest adventures.
In August 2026 I will be racing 1000km across Mongolia, part of the longest and toughest horse race on earth. Riding semi-wild horses, changing to a new horse every 35km. Navigating, surviving with minimal equipment and living among the herders for 8 days.
I was selected as one of just 42 riders worldwide (from 2,000+ applicants) to compete in
the Mongol Derby Horse Race August 2026.
As part of doing this challenge, I'm raising much needed funds for Wanaka based non-for-profit, Mint Charitable Trust. Mint does vital work in the Upper Clutha Community, providing essential support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, helping them lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. Being geographically isolated from disability supports in larger cities, Mint has created its own path to ensure equal access to opportunities, focusing on community connections and a place of belonging.
Mint offers a range of engaging weekly programmes, such as dance and gym sessions, holiday programmes enabling individuals to build confidence to try new things, collaboration with community events to ensure inclusivity, provide employment support and offer exciting overnight trips that are a platform for personal growth.
Your generosity will directly impact the lives of many in our community.
Funds raised will help cover the race fee and raise as much as possible for Mint Charitable Trust, to help continue delivering vital support in our community.
If reason arises that I can't proceed with the race, all funds raised will go to MINT.
