Rii and Toms road to Commonwealth and Masters Worlds - South Africa
Wellington, Kapiti Coast District
Tēnā koutou,
Riria and Tom are about to embark on journey to represent their homeland Aotearoa on the world powerlifting stage. These two athletes are currently training extremely hard to compete in the Commonwealth and Masters Worlds Powerlifting Championship in South Africa.
Powerlifting is more than just a sport—it's a testament to grit, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. Riria, a seasoned athlete, will be representing Aotearoa for the fifth time, each lift a symbol of her dedication and the weight of her experience. For Tom, this is his debut on the international stage—a moment he has been training for, pushing his limits to carry the mana of his people to new heights.
But here's the challenge: powerlifting is a self-funded sport, and despite their immense talent and hard work, sponsorship is incredibly tough to secure. These athletes don't have a team behind them—they have a community. They have us.
Riria and Tom train out of Kāpiti, representing the Wellington region with pride. Now, they need our support to get to South Africa and showcase the strength of Aotearoa on the global stage. Every donation, no matter the size, is a step closer to making their dream a reality.
Let’s rally together and show the world the power of our people. Your support can help lift these two mighty athletes to the heights they’ve worked so hard to reach. Will you be part of their journey? Every bit counts.
Ngā mihi nui!
I am Riria mother.
