Giving back
Canterbury
* All money raised is going to the Canterbury West coast air rescue .
On the 15th July 2023 Riley had a motorbike accident that changed his sporting life . From a mad sportsman and rugby lover we sat in the hospital while they told us the outcome of his injury. It was hard news to take for all of us but we have done all we can to support him along the way .
When I asked him if he would like to do coast to coast with us he said yes ( secretly hoping we wouldn’t get in ) but we did.
So in 3 weeks time Riley, Nick & I will take on the 3 person relay team in the coast to coast . Riley will be doing the 3 bike legs of this race with it being 140 kms in total.
Riley dislocated his hip , smashed the top of his femur, 8 pins were put in place & he spent 3 weeks in hospital & 3 months non weight bearing. At his yearly check things seemed good . they had always been straight up with us that this wasn’t an easy fix injury However X-rays showed us the hip had massive signs of arthritis and was bone on bone and it was starting to die so was sent for a further mri scan. The change between the 2 X-rays in 6 months was massive . Hes being monitored every 6 months and will need a hip replacement at anytime he thinks the pains enough! With only being 16 we want to push it out as long as he can.
We want to thank BEE FIT bee for taking him under her wing to help get him to this start line.
We are donating money for every km that Riley’s does to the Westpac chopper .
Riley was a user of the chopper so we are giving back.
All funds raised will be donated to Westpac Rescue Helicopter Canterbury.
