Young underwater robotics team challenges the USA

Auckland

We are the New Zealand Underwater Robot competition winners - we call our team Point PHD - and are off to the USA National Competition in May 2017 to represent NZ and we need to raise over $20,000. We are Padraig, Harrison and Darroch (PHD) and are students at Hobsonville Point Primary and Secondary Schools.

Can you help us?

Look at our YouTube video link below to see what our underwater robot is all about. And you can follow our journey on Facebook as we build our new robot, test it, change it and also as we raise money to help us on our way.

Here is something about the underwater robot competition...

"NZAquaBots programme inspires students and helps discover the next generation of Kiwi scientists and engineers while introducing potential maritime and robotics careers.

Run by the Ministry of Inspiration (MOI) in Nelson AquaBots is a fun, hands-on educational programme integrating Science, Technology, Design and Engineering."

Quiz Night - THANK YOU to our guests and to our sponsors.  10 April 2017

Friday night QUIZ NIGHT was a great night - loads of organisation and generous sponsors meant the evening ran smoothly and everyone had a great time.

I have added some photos of the night and also Wayne Gosling of IXL Appliances with Darroch and Padraig who donated a $1,699 iRobot vacuum cleaner for auction. How much we wanted to bid on that too... but we were there to fundraise!

Other BIG auctions were the snorkelling trip to Goat Island and the accommodation package to Omori in the central North Island.

We so appreciate our sponsors.

Our business sponsors on the night were:

- Chesters Plumbing

- Corporate Traveller

- Hobsonville Kitchen and Eatery (Joe was also our wonderful Bar Manager for the night)

- Stewart Island Salmon

- Inspire Films (who made our video)

- Compass Homes, Kumeu

- PLUS Finance

- Harvey Norman

- IXL Appliances

- Addit Embroidery (for the gorgeous boy's uniforms)

- Terry & Janet Jones - Bayleys Real Estate

- Flame Pizza, Hobsonville

- Waimarie Wines

- Vinoptima Wines

- Mortgage Supply Company

- Belvedere Law

And finally a big thanks to Kim Robinson of FaceUp for being our accomplished MC and auctioneer for the night.
