Rocco's Journey - A Wish to Walk
Fundraising for life-changing SDR surgery & intensive therapy costs

Rocco is 6 years old and was born prematurely at 32 weeks. This resulted in him being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 16 months old, presenting as Spastic Diplegia. Rocco has tightness in his leg muscles, and he must use walking aids to get around.
We are fundraising to get Rocco to America for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery, at St Louis Children's Hospital. SDR is not offered in NZ. This surgery will permanently reduce the spasticity in Rocco's legs, reducing pain and will greatly improve the chance for him to walk independently. Intensive therapy is required for 2 years after surgery to get the best results and this is also at additional costs.
Rocco is the most amazing kid - his smile lights up every room and his confidence and determination is like no other. Rocco strives to participate in everything he loves - skateboarding, horseriding, rugby, and breakdancing, and he dreams of running around after his brothers one day.
This surgery will be life-changing for Rocco and our family. We appreciate every single donation and messages of support.

We are off to America! 16 April 2024
The Give A Little page has now closed and we wanted to express how grateful we are to all who donated, sent words of encouragement and shared the page with their family and friends. The funds raised via Give a Little & other fundraising events has surpassed our original goal and Rocco is heading to America at the beginning of May for surgery and to have his life changed. He has also been able to access private physical therapy sessions in the lead up to his trip to build up his strength as much as possible, and this will continue post surgery. This would not have been possible without your generosity and we cannot thank you all enough for your support!
