Promising Prebbleton and Canterbury U19 rugby player Leni Taufateau (Rocky to his many friends) was out in Christchurch early on Sunday morning when he was knocked unconscious in a senseless unprovoked attack in front of friends and dozens of onlookers.
Now the friendly, well liked 19-year-old is fighting for his life in Christchurch hospital, his future and rugby career uncertain.
Rocky was attacked without warning for no understandable reason. The attacker hit Rocky in the head with a single blow with enough force to knock him to the ground causing him to hit his head on the pavement resulting extreme head trauma.
We at Prebbleton have always seen ourselves as wider family to our members and with Rocky being away from his home country and family our support for him will be more important than ever as he undertakes his long journey too full recovery.
Rocky was an innocent victim who's life will be changed forever. As Rocky's adopted community our goal is the assist Rocky and insure he gets the appropriate care needed to assist him on this long journey.
