Rod’s Cancer battle

  • Going good so far

      29 April 2022

Rod has now had 2 treatments (with all your help this has been possible) of the cetuximab and seems to handling having the 2 chemos together, the good thing is he is having less pain which hopefully means it is doing some miracles inside, he is due to have a scan in about 4 weeks so we can get a better picture if it is either slowing down the liver growth or just keeping it as it is, or the best news ever would be it is actually shrinking. Thank you everyone again for giving him this opportunity, it really sucks that much needed drugs for cancer are not available at no cost. Will update again after the scan results.

  • First treatment done

      1 April 2022

Rod started his first round of Cetuximab today, as well as having the Irinotecan, 4 hours sitting in the treatment chair, so far he seems to be doing ok, although some of the side effects to come are not so pleasant, such as an acne rash over his body, so have to watch for infections, and have to monitor his temperature and if goes over a certain degree we are straight to the hospital, these are only a few of the side effects but hopefully we can manage them all, and it does what it is suppose too, stop the tumour growing and giving him much needed time. I just want to say thank you again to everyone who has donated and given him the chance to have this treatment, we can’t thank you enough xxx

  • A wee update

Rod is now on his second round of the funded Irinotecan today, the first round he was not feeling the best for about 6 days, so had 11 days feeling good and then back into it again, the next round in 2 weeks time is when they add in the cetuximab plus the Irinotecan, sitting in the treatment chair for 4 hours, thanks so much to everyone for supporting us without you all we would not be in the situation to be able to offer him this treatment, it means so much to be able to give him some much needed time. I will give another update when he starts the cetuximab, and let you know how he is coping, on a positive note we celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary yesterday, let’s hope we get lots more (added a photo of us on what was such a fantastic day) xxxxxx
