As one of the most selfless, generous people you’d ever wish to meet, this is an opportunity for many to assist Andy, big or small.

Andy’s Journey
In July 2024, our beloved Andy (Rod) suffered a hypoxic brain injury— a devastating event that changed his life and has affected so many deeply.
Since then, Andy has shown courage and determination but has had his fair share of ups and downs in his journey. He’s endured months in hospital, repeated infections, and limited access to rehabilitation (given the complexities on his injury).
After exhausting every possible avenue to secure the right care and rehabilitation in the UK, Andy’s family made the decision to bring him home to New Zealand, he’s now back on home soil surrounded by love & family. Everyone is working to pull together a plan to improve his strength, movement, and communication.
His recovery will be long, challenging, and uncertain (as is often the case with brain injuries), but now a start can be made to do a bit more to give him the best possible chance of improving.
Andy is currently being cared for at Ryder Cheshire, a facility in Palmerston North that supports people with brain injuries. It’s directly across the road from Andy parents Jan and Jeff’s home, and close to Nat and Mike’s — so Andy is never far from family.
The care at Ryder Cheshire is great, but it’s not rehabilitation, so the family are creating a programme of therapies to give Andy the best possible chance at recovery.
Funds will be administrated by Bevan Griggs and Sam Irving at the request of Andy.
Great mate, love the man!
