Giving my partner a lifesaving gift

  • Surgery Details

      19 May 2025

Apologies for the huge gap in updates, life has been incredibly hectic. Over the past few months, we've reached out to a surgeon in Thailand and have narrowed down the full cost to $17000 NZD. This covers the surgery itself, accommodation for 2 weeks, flights to get there, and food and incidentals for that time. Due to the death of a close loved one, my grandmother, we now have just enough to pay for Rowen's surgery itself which we were quoted at a little over 11k NZD. However, doing the math and borrowing where we can, there's a serious potential we will have completely drained any savings with which to live off after the fact, and as Rowen is the only one out of the two of us with a full time job, our situation will be unstable and unpredictable. Both of us suffer from chronic mental and physical health conditions which makes day to day life expensive as is, but we will also be in dire straights should anything go wrong while abroad or after we return. We owe it to a sad twist of fate that we can use my inheritance to pay for this surgery for Rowen, and even though I know my grandmother would support this decision, no one should have had to die to facilitate my partner being able to live. I am so grateful to all of you who donated even a little bit, and I ask that we rally for the final push to make sure we can navigate this harrowing journey and come out the other side safely. Every little bit helps ❤️

It's Rowen's birthday today! We're so so grateful to all of you who were able to donate or share but we need to keep momentum going if we're gonna get close to our goal. Please keep sharing this around, and thank you all so much! 💕
