Georgia Nugent-O'Leary to Rotterdam, Netherlands for the 2016 Under 23 Rowing World Championships

Hi I'm Georgia Nugent-O'Leary, I have been selected for the Under 23 New Zealand Rowing Team who will compete at the World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands from the 20th-28th of August this year.

In order to compete at the World Championships this year I need to raise $7000 in order to help pay for the airfares, accommodation, transport of boats etc in the Netherlands.

I am 19-years-old and the fourth of six children raised on a farm in Marton. I have been rowing for four years and in four years time I aim to be competing as an Elite at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. In 2014 (helped by the support of my family, my second family at Aramoho Wanganui, my fellow rowers and friends) I was selected into the New Zealand Junior Rowing Team who competed in the Junior World Rowing Championships in Hamburg, Germany and we achieved 6th in the A Final. Last year I also competed at the Under 21 Trans-Tasman Regatta for New Zealand in which I won 6 golds against our Aussie counterparts in Pairs, Fours and Eights.

Last year I also began studying my degree which is a Double Science Major in Food Science and Agritech with Lincoln University. It may sound like a bit of a mouthful but I enjoy it and it keeps me busy between trainings and I am working towards having it finished by 2020 all going well.

This year, in the Eight, I will be working to better myself each day within the crew so that we can work towards our goal of winning Gold in Rotterdam and representing New Zealand well on the world stage.
