Ruby has sustained a serious injury and needs our help so she can live her best life.
Nationwide
Ruby is an eight-year-old Husky who loves long walks and belly rubs. She was rescued by her human family in 2014: mum, dad, Nova and Bailee.
Ruby is a happy dog and loves people, adventures and playing with her brother Max. Her favourite places are the unexplored woods, following the trace of random animals, digging and sniffing every bit of land.
But one day in November, she was riding securely in the truck to her favourite trail and saw something that made her overly excited. Ruby managed to slip out of her collar and jump from the back of the truck, injuring her front leg under the tyre. Ruby was taken to the vet right away for x-rays. She didn’t break any bones, but sustained a nerve injury and is dragging her front paw on the ground.
Ruby’s injury has affected her quality of life. She is unable to go for her treasured walks, spending most of her time sleeping and has lost the sparkle in her eyes. It has been heart breaking to watch and it has been hard time for our family. Ruby’s brother Max has had to stay with friends while we focus on getting her better.
It has been 10 weeks’ post injury, the daily massages, weekly physio sessions and vet appointments have done nothing to improve her injury. We are now faced with the option to amputate her front leg. This is the toughest decision we’ve ever had to make for one of our family members. Ruby still has a full life ahead of her and if we don’t amputate, she could self-mutilate.
Unfortunately, amputation is expensive. We are reaching out to our networks and communities to fundraise the money for Ruby’s surgery and recovery expenses.
Please help us to provide Ruby with surgery that will allow her to live life to the fullest. Any money left over from fundraising will be donated to the SPCA.
Thank you and God bless.
